What is the proper way to clean a hunting knife?

I have a Buck knife I use for hunting, is a blocking back. There is dried blood and dirt on the inside where I can not reach. How I can clean, restore and generally find the knife? These two extremes are the fingerprints of gold color and look for colors and take them. Just need to know how to clean it so you can use it again.

First, sharpen the knife. Honing produces grain which can grow into the hinge and creat friction, so lets get the sharpness off the road. Next .. Use a little bleach to clean the blood from the interior. Chlorine breaks down the blood. There are other solvents that do well. Then wash with soap and water or just put it in the dishwasher, which follow a penetrating oil to clean all the dirt stuck to the anterior fat. Ok .. heads are bronze .. a polished bronze, and will then shine spray with some hairspray to reduce Now the future tarnish wash gently to remove any traces of cr * p then either oil or the use of WD40 on the hinges and lock release. Clean everything with a clean paper towel and you're done ..

There are literally thousands of articles on the web that describe various methods to care for their knives. In this article, I will divide it in the simplest terms - Using the KISS principle "Keep It Simple Stupid" to describe how to secure your favorite knife that lasts many years. The information in this article is valid for all types of knives, and can be used to serve all the knives.

Whether you have a knife or a large collection of quality knives, including the full range of knives, folding knives, fixed knives and tools Pulti leaf-purpose, you must maintain and care for them or become impaired. I remember once favorite when I took my knife out of the leather case for the first time in a year, was all stained and the road was covered with rust.

Maybe you just give your son or daughter of his first knife and wants to teach them how to care for her. Whether you're a hunter, hiker, camper, backpacker or wilderness, you know a quality pocket knife is a valuable tool and, if proper care it can last for years.

There are many brands of blades and as many levels quality with different degrees of resistance to corrosion - suffice it to say knives made with lower quality metals requires more care to ensure they stay free of corrosion. but for the purposes of this article, the prudent level of care outlined should keep any good knife condition.

Here are some simple tips Caring for your knives

1. PROPER USE knife - Remember that a knife is not a screwdriver and a screwdriver is not a knife properly use a knife, cut only did his knife to cut - to avoid cutting board or paper and never use a glass cutting board, granite or other hard substances. And, of course, (but many people ignore it), do not use a knife, a screwdriver, a chisel or lever.

2. YOUR STORE Knife - When not using his pocketknife to clean a little oil (a good silicone spray also can be used) and store in a dry place. Do not store the knife in its sheath - especially a leather case, leather tends to retain moisture and cause corrosion.

3. CLEAN AND FREQUENT OIL - Many standard uses of this knife as citrus peal, cleaning fish or game can leave corrosive residues skinned his knife. After using your knife, the knife is always clean with water and mild soap. Then dry and apply a liberal coat of clean oil before storing. Finally, if you do not use the knife often take it out once a year to 3-4 inspect it for corrosion and apply a new coat of oil. These actions will ensure a long life for his knife.

SHARP - Always keep the blades sharp. A sharp knife is more efficient and easy to use. There are a number style different knife sharpeners - the three main styles are sharpening stones, diamond sharpening sticks, and ceramic "pot clubs." All of these have their pros and cons, "but all of them can effectively sharpen knives. When sharpening his pocket knife, I recommend you sharpen the original angles of the leaf. Just follow the instructions that came with the grinder. Remember there is no need for grinding the knife - go slowly and check your progress after every few strokes and then stop when you come to the desired sharpness. When finished, do not forget to wipe the blade clean and apply a light coat of oil or a silicone protector.

IN CONCLUSION - Take good care of your knives and will last for many years.

· Keep your knife clean and dry.

· Lubricate the knife frequently, especially points rotation and the blade.

· Keep your knife, a sharp blade is safer than a dull one.

· When not in use, remove the knife sheath and stored in a dry place
