How to clean a knife?

I have a knife, a Kershaw 1600K. I lent it to a "friend" and I'm not sure what I did with him, but now it's all rubbery and not open any more film. How I can clean it? Would it be OK and effective little soaked in alcohol overnight and then dry with Q tips? I know this is not about hunting, but I thought you would know. Alcohol should not hurt anything if you use it, however, I'd go with some sort of solvent or Goo Gone. brake cleaner is good too but it is unhealthy to breathe. Goo-Gone can be found at Wal-Mart, ACE Hardware, and even Dollar Tree stores. This is not the only time you need to use things well, gets rid of nasty tags that stores love to put all your goods that leave residue when trying to remove. If you use the alcohol method, you will not to use Q-tips to dry, the alcohol evaporates in minutes. If you would like to disarm, use an Allen wrench, it appears that the screws I see in this picture knife. Take the screws a couple, clean all parts individually and reassembling. Using Goo-Gone, which should only be taken 30-45 minutes at most. Hope this helps.
