i wanted to buy a clown knife fish so when i saw it in the petstore i fastly bought it and it is black or dark grey so i searched for it in the internet and i discovered theat it is an african knife not a clown and i think it is not aggressive and my oscars frightening it so i wanna know if my fish is aggressive like the clown knife fish i see in the internet or it is not?? and thanks alot.
African knifefish tend to be peaceful toward other species but may be aggressive toward others of the same species (other african knifefish). They need large tanks, around 55 gallons, but oscars need around 75 gallons for one. So... unless you have about 100-125 gallons (and you might?) there may not be enough room in your tank and that may be why the oscar is picking on this fish. Also, the clown knife is not particularly aggressive. It will eat smaller fish, and it may also not tolerate another clown knife in its territory. However, with large cichlids, for example, it will simply stand its ground. It doesn't actively attack other fish. This is why some injuries may occur between clown knifes and other fish.
