are spring assisted pocket knives legal in california?

1) Assisted pocket knives are 100% legal in CA. If you want details and analysis of the relevant laws it's here - http://www.zknives.com/knives/articles/law/caknifelaws.shtml

Sadly, cops sometimes detained people with assisted openers, mistaking them for the switchblades, which they are not. But, I've never heard of anyone being jailed, all the cases i know of were dismissed either by DA, or in the court in 5 mins.

2) Switchblade is not the same as assisted opener(AO). Legal definitions are different. Karnette amendment for the PC 653K makes the distinction clear:
"Switchblade knife" does not include a knife that opens with one hand utilizing thumb pressure applied solely to the blade of the knife or a thumb stud attached to the blade, provided that the knife has a detent or other mechanism that provides resistance that must be overcome in opening the blade, or that biases the blade back toward its closed position.

Most of the US made AOs satisfy all 3 conditions, when in fact one is enough.

The only thing you have to keep in mind is that local towns or cities may have their own, more strict law prohibiting AOs. For that you'd need to call local LEOs.

outsiders butterfly knife?

Where can i find the same knife two-bit has? i think its a pcc weehawk with black micarta inserts by Jody Samson but not totally sure where to find one, ITS MY DREAM KNIFE

First of all, they are not illegal in america. The idiot answering before needs to learn how to research. In some states they are, most (if under 3 inches which.most balisongs are) states are legal.

Second, i'm sure it'll take some research on your part but you can find custom knife makers all over the net. Even metal workers too. Find one and send them a picture or model. Be prepared to shell out some money though. Custom balisongs aren't cheap.
