for survival is a full semi or non serrated blade better?
i am looking at a sog seal pup
I have spent the greater part of my life learning to survive in wilderness settings for extended periods of time and learned not to depend on one knife. If you loose it or break it your out of luck. And I have seen people loose their fancy $500 knife in the woods never to be found. So a smart survival wise person always carries more then one knife. I carry 2 small knives and one large scabbard knife on me. And one of those small knives is always partly serrated.
Serrated blades can be a pain to sharpen but they cut wet and dry rope and vines far better than a standard edged knife. They also can be used in a sawing action to notch wood quickly for snares and other applications. They will cut a seatbelt faster than a standard blade. I carry a Gerber folding pocket knife with part serrated blade and use it often.
Tied to a stick for a spear a serrated blade will inflict more tissue damage and hemorrhaging than a standard blade. But they are terrible for skinning, gutting and cutting meat up as they tear meat in a jagged cut.
I like SOG knives and recently bought a few for things I wouldn’t put one of my high dollar knives through. So I would advise a partly serrated knife to be included in your survival gear.

How to sharpen a serrated knife;
I use a triangular sharpening stone or a small chain saw file to sharpen serrated knives.
