Knife Serrated

Knife Serrated

I found a large pocket knife with an elaborately serrated blade. Since it is obviously intended for outdoor?

use I would assume the owner would be expected to be able to sharpen it. But how do you sharpen a serrated blade?
The fact that it folds up suggests that it is intended to be carried in a pocket and used outdoors. And the fact that I found it buried in the sand by the river. But the serrated blade was a surprise. It's a great knife. It's very sharp. I cleaned it thoroughly and have been using it to chop vegetables.

A serrated blade does not imply outdoor use.

A serrated blade is generally designed so it does not require sharpening during its lifetime. To gain this benefit, you sacrifice the degree of sharpness.
