What is the difference between assisted opening knives and film?
I'm buying a gift for a friend who likes knives, but where I live apparently switchblades are illegal, but the spring of assistance are not. Could someone please tell me the difference? Thanks
There are three main types of knives: 1) "Pocket" in these knives knife blades are not energized, and fully open to the force they apply, the only time I've heard of legal complications with these knives is when the blade is too long. These knives usually cover a wide range of prices, quality and styles. 2) open Assissted these knives knives is a spring or a small piece of metal to keep the blade in tension when bent. To open these carry ou some pressure as if a knife opening movie and let the energy of the spring launch of the open road. The thing about these knives that are legal to property in more places then automatic knives is still open as if they had a spring in them. Spring is really only there to help implementation. These knives are run on a legal lot bureaucracy because of the ease and speed of implementation. 3) automatic knives "These are the knives in the sheet is under strain again, but that are deployed by using a button, because the road more often then not hidden inside the handle. These knives are illegal more often after the first two types, generally used as a defense weapon and leaf size and shape reflects. These are probably which according to the plans as "movie" knives.

looking for a piece of good self?
Now I know most of you will say: "any kind of knife it has on you" but I am looking for a decent size (not large) fixed blade that can be obtained quickly and easily. Something like this, but it has a cutting edge and can connect to a belt. http://www.boker.de/us/fixed-blade-knife/boker-plus/tactical-knife / 02BO275.html
Oh gad zooks there are tons ... How about this? http://www.bladeconnection.com/shopexd.asp?id=85047 or this one? http://thegerberknives.com/command.html Or this? http://img512.imageshack.us/i/knives003xz0.jpg/ (referring to the Tac II gerber left) or this another? Boker http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y269/CliffStamp/ / Applegate / applegate.jpg (of Boker Applegate Fairbairn) Just to list four of the top of my head ... In other words at any price point you want and at any length you want is not something that is consistent with this type of description. Also, if you have the money to really fancy going all Americans Bladesmith Society and master blacksmith journeyman blacksmith had to make a presentation Quillion dagger style of wrought steel hand hand forged Damascus, so as to attain certification. Therefore, a combat knife on the type you are looking for is something that none of them could do for you. Thinkingblade
