Japanese sword question: Is there any way to grade and see the authenticity of a katana?
I got one a few years ago, I've been trying to give the adequate care but still has some mold. Is there any way to know if this is a real Katana? Edit: A friend gave it to me, do not know where it out. Have some prints on the sheet and some kanji (I think) near the grip.
Malcolm has a good answer, but let me expand on that. A large number of swords, including those by the most famous swords were not signed. Often, the blacksmith would make a dozen sheets to get one that was higher and only signed his best work. Your best bet is to contact a sword collector or a collector group. If the sword is signed, it could send a picture rubbing or signature on the tang. Many of the swords that have been saved on the road itself are only replicas. Here are some of the contacts. I was looking at the swords, because I am a collector .... I found this sword cane ... Http://www.trueswords.com/nodachi-handmade-zatoichi-cane-sword-damascus-black-p-4816.html It looks very cool! It was supposedly used to Zatoichi, a blind swordsman? Want to buy this gun ... But I am unusual in this kind of thing, so you can help me? I would buy it if it is a weapon based off a Japanese legend, but not if it was just of a film. (Especially a film that has never seen.) Because when I looked up much about the movie Zatoichi approached. So ... If this was a legend first want to buy this weapon, since it is based on Japanese history. But if it was purely a movie, I'd probably decline. Does anyone know the response to this?
I doubt that this was a legend in the first place. The film does not say that is based on the legend or true story, and most of the things that located on Zaitochi not exactly support the idea that is based on a legend. Here is the real fact. Zaitochi is based on something of a Samurai or Katana blacksmith in place, usually because the handle, blade, or sheath damage. He was placed in a separate area to prevent more damage maintenance. Basically, looked like a blind man's cane or walking stick, but it was not for that. Soooooo, in other words, is not based on fact ... It's just a movie.
Handmade Japanese
When one hears of Japan, luxury cars, skyscrapers, stock markets, robots, computers, airplanes and other scientific and technological products the world has always come to mind or her. However, no one can forget the tragedy of 1945, in Hiroshima and Nagasaki was the deterioration of the earth by the atomic bombs under command of the U.S. president Harry S. Truman.
The comparison of the tragedy of the explosion of an atomic bomb with the current image of Japan, the lesson of the revitalization of Japan after the Second World War is what everyone is not overlooked. What are the factors driving Japan to its present condition the world?
Japan could be more fortunate than other countries in the world, which has suction nationalist leaders. In mid-19th century, while Japan was still under imperialism, so that the country will survive, the Japanese government initiated three platforms: 1 - High military capability; 2 - Swift establishment of capitalism and, 3 - strong education system. The third platform was like what Professor Dr. Seiichiro Yonekura, Institute of Innovation Research Hitotsubashi University, said "we had no natural resources, gas, mining, petroleum, ... so people are our only resources." Only In 1890, textile exports exceeded imports from Japan until 1930, Japan had the world's highest number of official studies of second directed only by the United States.
Unfortunately, the above circumstances was completely paralyzed from the atomic bombs dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki. This event forced Japan to resume all of nothing.
It could be like HE SHINOHARA Katsuhiro, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan Cambodia said that "the private sector was the key to success." After WWII, Japan renounced the ambition to military personnel workstations and hands to work together depends on the United States for security, and the country as a whole was under the administration of Democratic Party Liberal, all these led to a strong and stable political situation, but the bureaucracy clean. We can compare the case of strong and stable political situation, but clean bureaucracy with China, which has strong bureaucracy, but has not developed as Japan, because of corruption!
Since then, the management system Japan has opened up to private sector, as Professor Dr. Seiichiro Yonekura recalled "the power of the private sector." Because of incentives for energy private sector, four men began business at Sony in Tokyo in ruins in 1949, and four other men in the Honda company began a wooden hut.
The principle of power private sector is open to internal competition and monopoly has never existed. Until the present, a large number of companies working in the same products or services affects its competition in this country great.
Dr. Seiichiro Yonekura uttered a comment that "Cambodia is not only a country for assistance foreign, we will be independent and be one of the regional leaders. "Must be take a look at Japan after WWII, Cambodia has not really a factor that we barricade to gain independence and one of the regional leaders in Asia.
