What are some tips to cut sheet metal repair?
I'm fixing old upright piano (70 years) that has very walnut veneer nice trick on him. There are several areas where large chips that take away from him. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to patch them? Can I score age veneer with a knife, heat, and lever off with a wood chisel? I have several sheets of walnut veneer BURL I use to make new pieces. Thanks! Except for the first answer, the moron who said Rip It Out, I think the answers of all other offer something of value. I'll let people vote for him.
I've done this before. They make a special hard resin which comes in sticks and in various colors. fuse with sticks a hot knife and spread the hot resin on the chip. then you can play very carefully with the stain if the shade is a little off. I do not know where to get the sticks to try Sherwin Williams or furniture finishing suppliers as Mohawk. That last forever that's why you can not remember where we got them, but the repair is very strong and if you take your time, there will be noticeable.
