How do I clean old rust and thick dirt off of a knife with leather handle?
I have kind of machete-style knife curved which has a leather handle. I have the knife from a garage sale and has rust stains on it and some coarse seems to be stuck on. I tried a gun little solvent and oil, but really was not doing the trick. What can I do to get this thing perfect?
First clean the handle with Saddle soap and cover with clear shoe polish. This will protect and make it look good. Then take the sheet and place on the surface of a solid hard floor. Use a spatula to remove as much material as you can sand. Even if it materializes, should be able to get almost all off with a knife Putty. If it is something like a mixture of tree sap and dirt on it, form their mineral spirits paint shop cut it. Then finish cleaning with soap kitchen and a rag. Many of these knives were coated with a protective spray of some kind. If you want to go that route, get a good picture of your hardware store and give a uniform layer of a flat paint Nice black or olive gray. If you want the sheet to be bright, you may need to use a wire wheel to get it absolutely clean. Then, change the wire wheel for a series of pads with increasingly fine polishing compound polishing them. You can go all the way to the jewelers Rouge and put a high chrome like shine on it if desired.

Medieval Templar
Great place for a day trip to 150 miles from London?
Hello everyone! Help! Tomorrow me and my pack want to visit a place pleasant in the UK, up to 150 miles from London. R Not interested in cities such as Oxford, York, etc would like to stay all day outdoors. Something like: mountains, with ruined castle, medieval town, ancient place forgotten Templar church (we've seen Stonehedge:]) do not want to be in the car whole day, we walk and enjoy the fresh air. Please explain why we should go to the place of U propose. THNX!
I suggest you go to the county of Wiltshire and visit the village Avebury which is a few miles west of Marlborough and has rings of the prehistoric stone circles, Silbury Hill is near - a man made, probably the ancient hill of a defense. Double back to Marlborough and take the A345 towards Pewsey. After a couple of miles take the left lane to the Press and Wootton Rivers. A mile from this road on the right you will see a small parking area and a door to admit Martinsell Hill. You can use the hiking trails publlic up and around this hill and follow road round lid to the brow of the hill near Oare Hill. If it's a clear day the view in all directions are great, towards Salisbury Plain, more in Wiltshire, Somerset and even the Cotswolds, many of the other hills in the area are in strange ways and this is a fascinating landscape. If you have time take a look at the village of Wootton Rivers is almost entirely composed of traditional thatch houses and sits on the Kennet and Avon Canal two centuries ago used to transport goods Bath and Bristol, now by pleasure boats, you can walk scenically delightful by the way side channel is called the tow path. If you can get it Swindon before going local scale Landranger Map Cartography 'and Devizes' will help you find all these places with ease and shows all the public roads and a horseshoe.
