Can I bring my Ka-Bar Knife to Germany?
I'm moving to Germany in a week (for work). Is it legal to bring my knife Ka-Bar? I always carry a gun with me.
The law with regard to ownership and carrying knives has been strengthened dramatically in Germany in 2008. It allows you to have a knife a knife "Swiss Army" if the stylesheet does not snap into place and is not regulated more than length. I do not know how good your German is but This site provides a wealth of information: general http://www.messerforum.net/initiative/pages/rechtslage-waffengesetz-und-messer.php would not advise keeping a knife in Germany - which is not really necessary and if caught and falls within restricted knives are stiff penalties.
Knife Germany

As you search the Internet, flipping through magazines or go shopping in stores for a hunting knife, can be confused by reading about all the different types of metal used in the manufacture of knife blades. may well know what stainless steel, titanium, carbon steel, and are even Damascus steel, but what about all other types read about? Â
Most people read names like 154 cm, 420, ATS34, AUS-8, CPM440V, etc. but can only shake his head in bewilderment. If you do not know what those numbers and letters mean, there's no way of knowing what quality knife that getting. Why two knives apparently identical, as the Fallkniven Idun Hunting Knife (one of VG10 steel and the other from Damascus) have a price difference of $ 900? Â
The knives are made from a combination of metals such as carbon, manganese, chromium, vanadium, nickel, molybdenum, etc. forth. Depending on the composition of the metals used in the production of the blade, each knife has the potential to be more expensive to produce, more resistant to rust, or get a better advantage than of cheaper materials. following is a partial list of some of the most common types of steel used in making knife blades.Â
Steel steel has a high chromium to help prevent against rust. public opinion is proof. not simply resistant to rust oxide, which means that will resist oxidation better than most metals, but if not careful can succumb to rust. is not a very strong metal, so knife blades made of it tend to be somewhat cheaper than most.Â
AUS-8 is a high carbon, low chromium stainless steel. While not as resistant to corrosion such as stainless steel, which tends to be a stronger metal, so it is a bit more expensive than stainless steel. VG-10 is a high carbon steel with different amounts of chromium, vanadium, molybdenum and cobalt. is especially popular with manufacturers of kitchen utensils, as they have an advantage and not become brittle even after has sharpened many times as is common with many hard steels.
440A is a durable high-carbon stainless steel that is used by many manufacturers in the production hunting knives, survival knives. Damascus steel was used by Muslims in the exact composition of today's crusades. His is unknown, although many companies and blacksmiths have experienced in trying to recreate it. It is a durable metal that everything tends to be very expensive.
While this list is extensive, it should give an idea of what look for when you're buying a hunting knife. The old adage that you get what you pay for is especially true when buying a quality knife. hunting anywhere ranging from $ 5 to over $ 1,000. Much  I will recommend that any hunter would get the knife best hunting can afford.Â
