Are cast alum alloy wheels generally stronger than steel?
I have a bent steel wheel hitting a pothole. Could replace only driving, but I will not do this again after the slump coming, so I'm considering buying alum alloy replacements for four (casting, forging, not because they are too expensive). Given that my main concern is the strength of wheels, not seen, is that this is good decision? Why JimKata-casting wheel having a hole better than others?
As for the concentration factor, if one wheel was bent steel with a pothole, probably would have solved a wheel casting. Report of the pot hole and make sure it gets fixed. I would replace the steel wheel (if not after the onset) and submit a bill to your local department of county roads (which may or may not get to laugh, and may or may not recover his money, but it worth a shot ...)
