Cold Steel
No knives are worth $ 600. For this price, you get a good set of kitchen knives (or even 2).
So when Cold Steel Bowie launched its new Natchez a suggested retail value of $ 599.99, I had to see what the hype is all.
Fortunately for me, I been able to get a very good price and not have to pay anywhere near $ 600.
That's what I thought
What I love about Natchez Bowie:
1. The steel is top of the line. Cold Steel is VG-1 San Mai III in their Natchez Bowie Knife which is folded and rolled steel in Japan.
This steel has a core of VG-1 steel, which is pretty hard to stay razor sharp, but also somewhat fragile.
To counter this, there is a softer layer of 400 series stainless steel on each side. The three layers of steel rolling and you can see a line of low rolling running just above the edge of the blade.
2. The Natchez Bowie's handle is made of Micarta. This material is composed of several layers of blue jean denim-like substance that is compressed together with the resin.
The result is a soft metal, but rock solid grip that will last a lifetime. The pommel and hand guard are made of stainless steel 300 series.
3. My Natchez Bowie Sharp shaving was the right box. The blade is almost 1 foot long (11.75 inches)!
What I dislike about the Natchez Bowie:
1. The upper part (the endpoint clip) is not clear. Many mountain knives are sharpened clip point, but the angle is fine enough that you can you sharpen.
2. $ 600 is very steep with a knife. If you do not know where to find a good price, you spend an arm and a leg for that knife.
General: Cold Steel Natchez Bowie is the massive price tag. Each piece of equipment into the knife is quality, and is one of the knives The most impressive aspect that comes to mind.
