Damascus Folding

Damascus Folding
Damascus steel sword blades question?

I understand that the sword of Damascus steel strip was bent double Steele, heating, hammering, bending again and so hundreds of times. Was it the same or almost the same as the Japanese used techmique making Samari swords swords? (Forgive the misspelling) I am aware of the complications that should be involved and would be intresting to learn more about them!

Damascus: A technique of folding the steel bends upon itself many (generally up to sixteen) hours, resulting in hundreds or even thousands of layers (a fold = 2 layers, two folds = 4 layers, three folds = 8 layers, 16, 32, 64, 128, 256, 512, 1024, 2048, 4096, etc..) More than sixteen folds are useless, as the layers become thinner than in a molecule - Which is impossible. This method was developed to remove impurities from steel (which also removes carbon, which is bad, but you can compensate to some extent) but modern steel is so pure that the folding of Damascus is no longer necessary. Now it is used for cosmetic reasons, Damascus steel looks really good, you can see the layers of the leaf. San Mai: translates into "three layers". Layers of soft carbon steel plate (or) is forge welded to the more layers of hard, high carbon steel. Steel low carbon content is the core (and sometimes the sides and / or back) and a higher carbon steel edge. The drive will hold its sharp edge, the core provides soft shock absorption, making the sword harder to break. Unlike Damascus, San Mai is still very handy. San folds Mai must be invisible, if you can see a San Mai times higher than forging the blade was defective and should be discarded - you have to trust the seller that the blade is San Mai - you can not tell by gaze. San Mai can be revealed by etching the blade with acid, such as lemon juice, but not recommend trying this unless you know what you're doing, you can permanently stain the sheet. Mai San swords are more durable (and expensive) than simple blades. They are more durable (and usually less expensive) than the leaves of Damascus. A sheet may be from San Mai or Damascus, or it can be both, steel Damascus San Mai then folded. Very cool, looks good and lasts a long time.

Can someone cut through the crown down?

You know when someone takes a long sword and another cut in half by reducing of them from the top of the head and cut symmetrically. I see in these cartoons, but never live action films and horror. Every time someone is reduced by half, always from the trunk. I wonder if the lower court that is possible, too.

Anything is possible, given enough of an instrument strong and hard enough. Realistically, a human being probably would never do that because the skull is a way that you would have to be almost perfect to not get hit a glancing blow, so strong, it would be necessary if a person can get through the bone, it would destroy the victim down before going through the rest the body. Assuming that the sword or what is received through the skull, it would still be necessary to cut the length of the spine and chest bone. I think that something like a large saw mill as seen in the cartoon Dudley would be much more possible.

Sword Cut

I wrote this article from the outdoor dining area opening at Finca Luna Nueva Lodge - a beautiful organic farm in Costa Rica. It is dusk. The birds are saying goodbye to others and, I hope, me too.

One thing that is so important that this place is the way everyone on the farm is used to support everything else on the farm. Nothing is wasted. When shells of gray water system used in the catch tank, an issue which is then reused to feed anything else on earth. When the shit from pigs, their manure is collected and enters the compost bin to feed the plants we eat for dinner tonight. Nothing is wasted. It is a huge circle of destruction and creation, waste and new growth.

Now take a moment and remember the Phoenix - the mythical bird is ie not in the city. "Legend has it that he dwells in Arabia, and that every hundred years, burned to death in his nest, but each time a new Phoenix, the only in the world, rising from the red egg. Quoted in The Phoenix of Hans Christian Andersen.

When birds are burning, must seem as if this will be the end it. Anyone who has watched from afar would think that. But that's not the case. The Phoenix rises from the flames of destruction and new life in all its beauty. It seems who should die in his present existence, in order to be reborn in the next.

And so is the goddess Kali. Kali's four arms represent the complete circle of creation and destruction of, contained within. She represents the inherent creative and destructive rhythms of the cosmos.

His right hand to represent their creative, while his left hand represents the destructive aspect. Contained within its image is the symbolism of the destruction of ignorance and the dawning of knowledge. His sword is the sword of knowledge that cuts the knots of ignorance and destroys false consciousness. Kali opens the gates of freedom with this sword, having cut the eight bonds that bind beings humans.

Then there is the myth of Inanna and Persephone. In both cases, our heroines get to the bottom and from there are reborn. Our myths tell us that the old world must be destroyed before the new world can emerge from its ashes.

It looks to me as if we're in the middle of the cycle of destruction. And for many people this is a place to be very afraid. We are so attached to how things are - even if they are so good - it is difficult to see that it might be better if we could leave go. But things are let go for an unknown future is not the easiest thing to do for most people.

The fear that many people experience at times like now comes from its focus on the aspect of destruction. To be aware that their world is falling apart and feel you can not do anything about it, naturally, brings up fear.Â

If you listen to the media, you are bombarded with things which will make you afraid - financial difficulties, terrorism, war, global warming, the disappearance of species.

If you look around, see their freedoms are eroding a while, quiet and under the pretext of patriotism.Â're standing in line at an airport and they feel powerless, like the legs of someone through their luggage in the land of the free and home of the brave. And anger rises right along with that fear.

But there is another side of the process - the creation. Sometimes it is difficult to see that part from all media focus on fear and destruction. However, if you look carefully and pay attention, you can see the other side. This article is one of its manifestations, as is our website and many others like it. Another example is YES! Magazine and Positive Futures Network. And then there are the people of New Chapter supplements, Co-op America and Creed Fka Mobile Working Assets, which are good examples of the new wave of companies whose business acumen and life in general is one of creation - not destruction.

The key to not give in to discouragement and is to remain open to the creative process. What can you do that will put you directly in line with the energy flow creative? Who can help? Â What kind of group discussion may begin or be a part of? Â What books and magazines, can you read? Does can create a community supported agriculture garden or going to work in one? You can buy only locally grown food? Can green home somehow?

The key to surviving this change with the heart and mind is intact in knowing that "this too shall pass." When people around you enter talks based on fear, on foot. When the news starts to overwhelm you, find some alternative news. For example, you can check out Indymedia or The Spirit of Maat.

Another thing to remember is that as we move through this period, the spiritual body of the planet is going through a also. change and as the planet changes, we must change with it. With so much information about various healing modalities available in The Many Faces of God. Part of our job now is to heal ourselves at all levels of our being - physical, emotional, mental and spiritual.
