Just started school knife Cuisine and recommendations required?

Hi, I'm starting culinary school and have to buy the knives next Class Size: 10 French Knife 3-4 "vegetable peeler peeling knife 8" spatula 14 "bread knife slicer meat 6" knife boning 10 "butcher knife sharpening steel Semites I really would appreciate some recommendations of the brand and where to buy those brands. I do not want to spend a lot of money, but if I need, I will. Thanks!

I am a former boss and recommend finding a good set of knives in a shop and a good reputation, brands like Henekel, Wurstof, Victorinox, Gerber and worldwide are those that seek. The knife will come in a set, the Simaetha be a separate purchase long with vegetable peeler, get a few that tend to go missing. The same with the paring knife sets 3 include a long and one short straight and curved beak of one, these are for peeling vegetables, mushrooms and turning cutting small fruits. As for where to buy, check the yellow pages of the city under some malls Knife suppliers have stores, I'm in Canada and came to the restaurant and home furnishings stores catering for hotels and places as well. Let me know if you need more help or advice.

Knife Knives

Knife Knives

Keep your hunting knives, Bowie knives and survival knives sharp! Sharp Hunting Knives, Survival Bowie knives to cut things done faster cutting tasks less tiring. Less force is required to make a cut so the knife is less likely to slip and cut. As we speak of a sharp knife, here We are talking about large outdoor knives hunting knives, Bowie knives and survival knives.

A key point is to keep your knife sharp angle original sheet. You should be able to get an idea of the original angle looking down the length of the blade, cutting edge of the front. The angle will vary of what the purpose of the knife is for. In general, hunting knives have a blade angle of 15 to 20 degrees. Heavier-like leaves and Bowie knives survival knives have blade angles to 30 degrees. Timberline Lansky and his own sharp knife kits to help you maintain the correct angle as you sharpen.

There are a few choices on how to sharpen the knife. If the blade is still in good condition and only need to use the retouched edge natural stone as an Arkansas stone. You may need to start with a course stone and then finish with a finer grit stone. People find they have a better advantage that stays sharper longer using natural stone. You can buy the stones that can be used dry, or need to be lubricated with oil or water.
If you need help severe sharp knife, start with a diamond whetstone. These stones tend to work on the road faster. Then finish the blade sharpening natural stone.

A word of caution. Some people have used a wheel motor for sharpening hunting knives dull. This can cause excessive heat and have the temper of the blade, making the blade brittle.

There are two basic styles of holding the knife.

The first style is using a motion sharpness circular. Start by holding the blade away from you in the right angle. Run the blade in a move clockwise in stone until that side has been sharpened leaf. Turn the blade over and repeat with a counterclockwise motion. An advantage of this method is simplicity. The disadvantage is you have to be careful not to grind a lot outside from one side of the road. This will cause the cutting edge of variable and perverse.

The second style of approach is to use the entire length of the stone and sharpen the whole length of the blade with each stroke. Start with your knife blade edge away from you. Place the handle of the knife on the end of the sharpening stone nearest you. Push away from you, using the entire length of the stone and remove the entire sheet through the stone to the point of changing leaf stone at the other end. Be sure to keep pressure uniform over the entire sheet and maintain the correct angle. Turn the blade over and repeat the process, pulling the blade toward you. Be sure to do the same number of strokes in each side of the road. The advantage of this is to sharpen the entire sheet at once. The disadvantage is that some people have trouble keeping the right angle and maintain a pressure uniform.

How do you know if the knife is sharp? Some people want their knives sharp enough to shave. You can run you VERY CAREFULLY knife along his arm to see if they can cut hair. See how you put pressure on the knife or you could end up going to the hospital. We do not recommend this method. Another method, and I use it lightly and gently draw your thumb across (not along) the blade. The thumb is generally sensitive enough to you can feel the blade edge. A lot of people disagree with this method, but it has worked for me and I still have to cut the thumb. A third method that has been used for many years is to see if it cuts the paper. We do not recommend this method. The role is basically wood that has been mashed together in a crisscross pattern and believe that this is hard on the sheet. To cut paper, use scissors.

Keep your hunting knives, knives bush and survival knives sharp all the time. That way, you're ready to do the job you bought for when the time comes. An added plus spending time at home getting an advantage in quality hunting knives is that they must find the road needs a touch on the field, is usually can be accomplished quickly with a handheld grinder. Enjoy your time outdoors, be safe, and always return home.
